Phil Kingsley Jones is a sportsman, entertainer, motivator, man manager and one of the best after dinner speakers around.
Having moved to New Zealand in 1983, Phil Kingsley Jones is the head of one of New Zealand's most successful sports management and marketing companies. He has been the driving force behind some of New Zealand's most envied sponsorship and promotional contracts, as well as managing and guiding the careers of top sports and entertainment people.
More than just an astute businessman, Phil has an international reputation as an after dinner speaker and a stand-up comedian. The Welsh boyo has a heart of gold and a mind full of jokes and numerous stories. Phil is one of the most sought after entertainers in this country and has spoken in every province in New Zealand to a wide range of audiences. He is highly regarded as a speaker internationally and has entertained worldwide.
Phil has received worldwide recognition as former coach, manager and mentor to International rugby star Jonah Lomu, and having played and coached rugby himself is highly regarded in his own right.
Adding to his achievements is not only having coached premier club rugby and being the director of rugby for Counties Manukau but he also coached the Tongan national rugby team on tours of Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa and the UK in 1997.
He currently manages some of the top rugby players in the world and has just branched out into other fields of sports management and events with his new company PKJ Ltd. He is now also working in the fields of soccer, boxing and golf.
Phil Kingsley Jones first made the big time in show business in 1977 where he won the famous ‘Search for a Star’ contest at the London Palladium (being the first ever Welsh entertainer to win this award). He followed up the following year by winning the British TV programme ‘New Faces’. Phil then became a professional entertainer working on numerous television shows and appearing with some of the biggest stars in show business. He worked alongside people such as Lionel Ritchie, Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons, Cliff Richard and the Shadows, Neil Sedaka, Billy Joel, Dr Hook, The Beach Boys and many more. It is this unlikely marriage of his two great passions, entertainment and sport, that has brought Phil Kingsley Jones his recognized success.
One of Phil’s proudest moments was when his son Phil Kingsley Jones Jnr was selected and captained Wales at rugby. His grandson Rhys has also represented Wales at age levels and is now a professional rugby player. Phil’s comment was that he doesn’t just coach them and manage them, he breeds them as well.
